Default BlurBeta plugins for 3ds Max 2010 (32bit and 64bit) now available

Hi all,

The BlurBeta plugins are now available for 3ds Max 2010 - both 32bit and 64bit.

A big thanks to Dave Baker of www.maxplugins.de for his time and effort in recompiling these plugins.

The BlurBeta plugins for 3ds Max 2010 can be downloaded from the BlurBeta plugin pack page:

Having issues with this package.

I downloaded, unzipped, and copied blurlib to stdplugins folder. then copied plugins to plugins folder with a subfolder "blurbeta".

Started MAX.

I then added and labeled the path in my systems path configuration.

checked the plugins manager and all are showing as "loaded" but i can't see any of the plugins.

For example the electric map is not showing up in the maps list, inside of the material editor.

How to install the BlurBeta plugins

1. Download the plugins
If you are using 3ds Max 9 or 3ds Max 2008, please download from the following location:
http://wiki.splutterfish.com/w/pub/W...08.build-5.zip

If you are using 3ds Max 2009 - use the following:
http://splutterfish.com/w/pub/WebCon...09.build-1.zip

If you are using 3ds Max 2010 - use the following:
http://splutterfish.com/w/pub/WebCon...10.build-2.zip

If you are using an older version of 3ds Max, please visit the following site and find the plugins for your 3ds Max version:
http://www.maxplugins.de/

2. Installing the BlurLib.dlu library file
The BlurLib.dlu file is a special library plugin that is used by the Material and Map type BlurBeta plugins. The BlurLib.dlu file must load before the rest of the BlurBeta plugins.
Please extract the file from the ZIP download...
for users of 32bit versions of 3ds Max: BlurBeta\x32_plugins\blurlib.dlu
for users of 64bit versions of 3ds Max: BlurBeta\x64_plugins\blurlib.dlu
..to the StdPlugs folder in your 3ds Max installation folder.

3. Installing the plugins
To install the plugins, it is recommended that you create a folder for just the BlurBeta plugins first. This will keep your plugins folder nice and orderly.

3.1 Creating the folder
In the plugins folder of your 3ds Max installation, create a folder called BlurBeta.

3.2 Copying the plugin files

Copy the plugins you wish to install from the ZIP download to this folder.
for users of 32bit versions of 3ds Max, copy the files from the BlurBeta\x32_plugins folder.
for users of 64bit versions of 3ds Max, copy the files from the BlurBeta\x64_plugins folder.

You should then have, for example:
c:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 9\plugins\BlurBeta\AlexGrad.dlt

You should not have:
c:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 9\plugins\BlurBeta\BlurBeta\x32_plugins\AlexGrad.dlt
If you do, your ZIP extractor added the paths from the ZIP file. Simply move the plugin files to the correct folder, then delete the now-empty BlurBeta\x32_plugins\ folders.

Please note: do not copy the blurlib.dlu file to this folder, or 3ds Max will complain about duplicate plugins.

4. Pointing 3ds Max to the plugins
In order for the plugins to actually load, 3ds Max must know that they exist. This is done by adding the folder in which we just placed the plugins to the plugins path.

4.1 Start 3ds Max
4.2 Go to the Customize menu and choose the Configure System Paths... option.
4.3 Activate the 3rd Party Plug-Ins tab.
4.4 Press the Add... button
4.5 Browse to the BlurBeta folder created in step 3.
4.6 In the bottom of the browsing dialog, there is a field titled Label. Change this field to BlurBeta
4.7 Press the Use Path button.
4.8 Press the OK button
4.9 Re-start 3ds Max

5. Done.
The BlurBeta plugins should now be installed. If you get any errors, or the plugins do not appear, please review the above steps making sure that everything is as it should be. If you get stuck, please post here for installation help.
Happy rendering!

Do any of the blur plugins show up? I.e. if some do, but the texture ones don't, then...
are you sure you copied blurlib.dlu into the correct folder (StdPlugs)?

If none of them show up, are you sure you copied them to the correct folder(s) and/or added the plugin paths correctly? Especially 32bit vs 64bit can be confusing.

Double checked and all seems right, but they aren't showing up still. Are there known conflicts with MentalRay?

yup. that was it. With mentalray the maps like electric, decaynoise, and others don't show up. unfortunately that makes them unusable for my needs as i use MR. too bad.
