... the console pops up, and I have to re-access the modifiers list. Can I stop this from happening?

Yes. Go to the BrMax menu (in the 3ds Max / Autodesk VIZ menubar ), go to Options..., then the Console tab, and uncheck the option Open on launch. This will prevent the Console from opening when Brazil r/s v2 is first initialized (such as when accessing the modifiers list, as 3ds Max initializes the modifiers available - which includes the Brazil r/s v2 Displacement modifier).
